Dear Music Lovers,

Young classical pianists attempting to build professional careers after years of study can have a hard time starting up. They may struggle to survive financially, become disillusioned and abandon an otherwise promising career before reaching their full potential. The charity Promote Our Pianists (POP) is dedicated to supporting outstanding young concert pianists by offering them guaranteed recital fees. Ticket sales alone do not cover the costs of these concerts. We are hugely grateful to Kettner Concerts for their support in enabling POP's new generation of artists to give public performances at their beautiful venues. Note that admittance to the POP 'family' of pianists is by invitation only, not by application.

An issue close to my heart is encouraging music lovers to attend live performances. When the audience is a participant it feels the power of the music as well as hearing it. That magical experience of listening to a fine pianist searching for the essence of a masterpiece is in grave danger when people can so easily access remote music for free.
